    What is Knudepunkt?

Knudepunkt is an annual, international nordic larp conference which is hosted annually in one of the four nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden), with the hosting rotating between them. Knudepunkt means, “junction” or “meeting place” and has functioned as such for eager larpers from all over the globe.

Since 1997 Knudepunkt has functioned as a place where larpers can meet up to share their ideas, experiences and perspectives on Nordic larp and larp design. What started as a small nordic conference has since blossomed into a large event where people from all over the world come to discuss larp both casually and academically. Knudepunkt is made by volunteers from the host country as a non-profit project. In Denmark, Knudepunkt is made in collaboration with Bifrost, a Danish youth organisation representing creative local associations. At Knudepunkt participants are invited to co-create the experience by hosting the majority of programme items, whether they be social, casual or academic.

    This years' theme

Larp: The final frontier – These are the voyages of the spaceship Knudepunkt.

Its ongoing mission: To explore the limits of Nordic Larp; to seek out new academic insights and build our comunity.

To boldly go where no larper has gone before!

The theme for Knudepunkt 2027 is Spaceship Knudepunkt. As the KP/SK tradition turns 30 we want to turn our gaze towards the future and foster conversations surrounding the Nordic larps of tomorrow. That might mean a talk on the history of our communities, a discussion on current trends and where they might be heading or a panel on how to create a more sustainable community in the future. We hope you will dream along with us and contribute to achieving our futuristic vision.

One way to engage with this years theme is at the grand party on Saturday. Here we encourage you to dress up inyour most futuristic get up and help spread the science fiction vibe that we aim for at this years Knudepunkt.

    Our vision

Knudepunkt is an event that strives to gather larpers from all across the world to discuss Nordic Larp, build networks and socialize across our wide reaching community.

In 2027, we want to dream big and look towards the future. We want to look into the future for both KP/SK and the wider Nordic Larp community, and therefore we encourage program items that explore issues constructively, by sharing experiences or discussing concrete solutions. Our ultimate goal is to make KP/SK a vehicle for change and not only a town square for sharing opinions.

We also want to engage the KP/SK community more in shaping the future of the event itself, by exploring what makes people sign up for KP/SK, and what program items make an impact on the participants. We want to explore what makes KP/SK the unique and special event that it is, and how the many different organiser teams can learn from and inspire each other across the host countries, and how we make sure that KP/SK stays relevant and keeps creating amazing experiences by adapting to the participants’ interests and securing a constructive and sustainable volunteer community. Thirty years of KP/SK has given us a lot of experience across generations of organiser teams, but exchange of experience and traditions between the host countries can still be even greater. We hope to contribute to the creation of a tradition that builds upon each others’ work and experience and give the next team of organisers something from 2027 to add on to.

These thoughts also apply to the community at large and how we organize our events and build our communities, both locally and internationally. There are many different avenues of thought with regards to what larp is and what it could be, and we want to build a platform for sharing, collaboration and reinvention that allows our community to thrive and evolve. Nordic Larp is not a monolith and we want KP to be one of the focal points for the everchanging discourse around this specific larp tradition.

We want to create a Knudepunkt, where everyone has the opportunity to participate. We’re focusing on the economical barriers that can hinder participation, but also the social challenges that come with participating for the first time or visiting Denmark from far away.

    Organizers and Volunteers

Knudepunkt 2027 is made by volunteers from across Denmark and the wider European larp community. Without these dedicated volunteers there would be no Knudepunkt for us to enjoy and no crew to man the complex machine that is Spaceship Knudepunkt.
